The former East Street School in Warren is on its way to the ground.

A crew from Fox and Sons Excavating of Clarendon was at the 100 W. Third Ave. property Tuesday tearing down the building. Bob Hennessy said the crew starting demolishing the building on Tuesday and Dana Hennessy said they hope to have the whole building down by the end of the day Wednesday.

It wasn’t simply a matter of making walls fall inward.

In addition to focusing on public safety and avoiding property damage, the crew was taking time to keep the wood waste separate from the more valuable stone and brick.

“You have to take your time,” Dana Hennessy said. “It’s a project.”
