A Pleasant Township woman faces charges after she allegedly refused to relinquish custody of a child and told police she did not recognize their authority.
Irisbelle Lacourt, 28, is charged with interference with custody, resisting arrest, and obstruction of justice.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Warren County Sheriff's Office deputies went to Lacourt's house on Oct. 6.
They spoke with Lacourt through a second-story window, according to the affidavit. "Ms. Lacourt indicated that she did not recognize our authority or the court's authority and she would not comply with any such orders."
The situation escalated to include an arrest warrant.
Deputies returned on Oct. 7 "to serve a court order… to take immediate custody of the plaintiff (Lacourt) and deliver her to the Warren County jail," according to the affidavit.
After securing the perimeter and confirming that Lacourt was home, deputies warned those inside to come to the door. When they did not, "entry was made into the residence via the back door, by smashing the window portion and unlocking the door from the inside," according to the affidavit. "Deputies then entered the residence and began searching for Lacourt."
"Lacourt then appeared with the minor child in her arms," according to the affidavit. "She was given several commands to show us her hands and advance to our position. The child had to be forcefully removed from the defendant's arms and Lacourt was taken into custody without further incident."
The child was taken to the court-ordered individual.
Lacourt was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Todd Woodin and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9.
