First Presbyterian Church of Warren is celebrating a milestone and dressing to fit the part.

“On Saturday, Sept. 17, friends and members of First Presbyterian church gathered in celebration of their 200th anniversary for a Fashion Through the Ages High Tea,” communications director Lacy Ruhlman said. “Attendees were encouraged to dress in their ‘Sunday Best’ from this decade or decades past.”

The styles covered fashion throughout the 200-year history of the church.

“With some costuming help from Warren Players, guests arrived in simplistic dresses representative of the 1800s, fur stoles from the 50s, mod frocks from the 60s and 70s, today’s styles, and everything in between,” Ruhlman said.

The High Tea was the opener for the bicentennial celebration.

“As FPC has been an active member of the Warren community since its founding in 1822, the congregation would like to invite the community to join in the celebration,” Ruhlman said. “A Concert of Sacred Music will be performed by organist Hunter Peterson at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22.”

“A celebratory worship service will be led by Rev. Karen VanderPloeg at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 with a Fellowship hour to follow,” she said.
