Police release details of Sheffield fatal crash

SHEFFIELD — A two-car accident late last week claimed the life of Hunlock Creek man.

Pennsylvania State Police at Warren say the accident occurred before 7 a.m. Thursday on Route 948 south of Henrys Mill Road. The vehicle, driven by Charles J. Honeywell, 52, was headed north and failed to negotiate a turn in the road while continuing straight into oncoming traffic. The driver of the vehicle headed southbound, Wayne A. Rubright of Clarendon, attempted to maneuver prior to impact, but was struck head-on by Honeywell’s vehicle.

Honeywell was pronounced dead at the scene while Rubright was treated for minor injuries. Pennsylvania State Police were assisted by Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department, Kane Volunteer Fire Department, Emergycare Ambulance and Koebley’s Towing.
