Appropriate, well-maintained landscaping can take a serious amount of work.

As a token of thanks for that effort, the City of Warren Street Landscape Committee presented five beautification awards to city property owners Tuesday.

Three residences, one non-profit and one business are selected annually.

Street Landscape chair Josie Gerardi said the committee members that evaluate possible awardees look at general curb appeal, maintenance and landscaping that fits the character of the property.

This year, Crary Art Gallery was the non-profit chosen. Lather Salon was the business recognized and the resident awards went to Charles Merroth, David & Karen Zock and William Bunk III & Casey Farbacher.

“Our goal is to inspire other people to keep their properties up,” Gerardi said.

Each awardee is presented a certificate as well as a lawn sign to publicly show the recognition.

“We do appreciate what you people do,” Gerardi said. “It’s really great that you people do what you do.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
