Sheffield Fireman’s Festival kicks off

The 59th annual Sheffield Fireman’s Festival kicked off on Tuesday.

Smokey Bear was the guest of honor and there were kids’ games, a car seat check, and Marty’s Bubblegum Machine.

Wednesday’s events feature a cruise-in and carnival ride-a-rama – the carnival is open from 6 to 10 p.m. through Friday.

The main events on Thursday are the tractor pulls, starting at 7 p.m.

The Fireman’s Water Battle starts at 6 p.m. Friday, with a kids’ water battle to follow. Also on Friday are pony rides and ride-a-rama.

On Saturday, the smells of barbecue will be in the air as contestants in the BBQ smoke-off may start cooking at 6 a.m. Judging takes place at 4.

The parade will kick off at 1 p.m. Saturday. As soon as it is over, the carnival will open.

Pony rides continue on Saturday.

Drawings for the basket raffle are at 8 p.m.

The event wraps up with Fireworks by Starfire start at 10 with the gun raffle and grand prize drawing to follow.
