Panel talks county strengths, weaknesses
Strengths and weaknesses identified in a county-wide survey as part of a planning process are largely what you would expect.
The Warren County Planning Commission heard from the consultant working on that planning process on Tuesday.
A total of 204 surveys have been received, though the survey is still open, according to Mackin Engineering’s Brandi Rosselli, the consultant on the project.
“Recreation always is big in the county,” Rosselli said, noting that the surveys also highlighted the county’s rural character and scenic views.
Emerging issues identified include the loss of industry and business, declining population and the need for high-speed internet access.
Rosselli said that the plan is to hold public meetings in September and October to continue to gather feedback from the community.
County Planner Dan Glotz initially said three meetings would be scheduled in the area of Tidioute, Youngsville and Mead Township or Clarendon.
Discussion shifted to the possibility of adding additional meetings in the northern part of the county or going to one county-wide meeting and potentially offering a meal as an enticement.
Rosselli said the information will be used to “start to develop goals and objectives” as well as refining a map aimed to identify target areas for development.
