Active shooter drill, training set for Saturday at Youngsville

There will be emergency medical and law enforcement vehicles and personnel at Youngsville schools on Saturday.

The Warren County School District’s annual active shooter drill and training will begin Saturday morning. Emergency vehicles will be at both Youngsville Middle High School and Youngsville Elementary School, and moving between them, throughout the day.

There could be more than 60 local personnel participating in the training, which starts in the morning, and the drill in the afternoon.

The district provides access to its buildings so, in the event of an incident, responders are familiar.

“The District has worked with our law enforcement, EMS, and Fire Department partners for years to improve the safety of our students and staff,” Safety and Security Coordinator Brandon Deppen said. “This drill is another example of this ongoing commitment. Emergencies are inherently complex. This type of drill gives all participants the opportunity to work together and address problems.”

The training and drill are applicable to different types of buildings and occupancies.

The cost of the training portion of the exercise is sponsored by Warren County Public Safety.
