Staff Sgt. Brandon Gregg retired from the U.S. Army National Guard in 2020.

Following his service, he was looking for a way to continue helping people.

In May, he found just the right spot.

Gregg is the assistant to the director at the Warren County Veterans Affairs office.

“I was looking for an opportunity to give back to my community,” Gregg said. “It just happened that this became available.”

“I am able to provide help for the veterans and the community,” he said. “It’s a double-whammy for me. Being able to give back and have a positive impact on people’s lives… this is a very emotionally filling job.”

“He’s a great asset to the office,” Veterans Affairs Director Delores Stec said. “He’s doing a great job. He works well with the public. I am getting him more involved in the state programs.”

“When someone calls my office, they can feel comfortable talking to Brandon,” Stec said.

Gregg works three days per week, typically 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

During his service, Gregg spent a decade a Fort Indiantown Gap. The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is located there and Gregg personally knows many of the people Stec contacts at headquarters.

For now, as assistant to the director, Gregg is not able to file claims.

“I can help coordinate emergency response, arrange burial benefits, collaborate with community leaders, and answer general inquiries,” he said.

“I would like to get him accredited as a Veteran Service Officer,” Stec said.

That accreditation would allow him to file claims.

His military background is not the only preparation Gregg has toward being a VSO.

The 2005 Warren Area High School grad has a degree in medical administration and business from Jamestown Business College.

Gregg lives in Warren with his wife, Elizabeth, and their three children.

Starting at $3.50/week.
