Two Warren men were taken to Warren County Jail after a Thursday morning search.
Agents of the Warren County Drug Task Force, with additional support from the City of Warren and Warren County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a search of 1308 Allegheny Ave. starting at about 9 a.m.
“The search warrant yielded controlled substances and U.S. currency,” Chief Warren County Detective Tom Kibbey said Thursday morning. “We’re going to continue to process the scene.”
A number of leads, including neighborhood tips and complaints, and information from and a controlled purchase by a confidential informant, led to the successful search, Kibbey said.
Joshua M. Baumgrotz, 30, was charged with six felonies — two counts each of dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity; possession with intent to deliver; and criminal use of a communications facility.
He was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Raymond Zydonik and taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $7,500 bail.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, a confidential informant allegedly purchased psilocybin mushrooms from Baumgratz on two occasions in June – both in the City of Warren.
Richard B. Munt, 23, was charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence; disorderly conduct; possession of a controlled substance; and possession of a small amount of marijuana — all misdemeanors.
The affidavit of probable cause related to Munt said officers witnessed him throwing controlled substances out a window after officers made entry during the search.
Munt was arraigned Thursday before Zydonik and taken to jail after failing to post $5,000 bail.
City of Warren Fire Department also responded to the scene with an ambulance. One resident was reportedly treated at the scene for difficulty breathing.
Kibbey asked that residents who notice suspicious behavior “call the District Attorney’s office and talk to me. Tips are always appreciated.”
