Woman charged following domestic incident
A Warren woman is in Warren County Jail after she allegedly choked a man then spit in the face of an officer who pulled her over while she was reportedly driving under the influence.
Valerie A. Kiser, 31, of Warren, is charged with felony aggravated assault, felony strangulation, terroristic threats, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, two counts of simple assault, DUI, and numerous summary traffic violations.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, City of Warren police responded to a call for a domestic assault shortly before midnight, Wednesday. The caller told police Kiser had allegedly threatened him, and assaulted him, and said he could not breathe while Kiser choked him. He told police Kiser then drove away.
Police said they knew Kiser did not have a valid drivers license.
Police found a vehicle matching the description given by the caller and pulled it over after witnessing a traffic violation, according to the affidavit, finding Kiser driving.
“Kiser had bloodshot, glassy eyes, an odor of alcoholic beverage emanating off her breath and was uncooperative with officer’s requests,” according to police. She failed to produce the documents requested of her.
“I asked Kiser to exit the vehicle multiple times to conduct my DUI investigation,” police said. “Kiser failed to exit the vehicle… had to be physically removed from the vehicle as she began to fight officers.”
She turned and spit in the face of the officer who was putting her in the patrol car, according to the affidavit.
Kiser was arraigned Thursday before District Judge Daniel Miller and taken to Warren County Jail after failing to post $25,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15.
