Safety improvements eyed for three roads in county

PennDOT is installing high-friction surface treatment on three roads in Warren County.

Work is expected to start Monday, June 13, on Route 59 from Route 6 to Keck Street in Mead Township, on Route 69 from Dennigan Lane to Gregory Lane in Sugar Grove, and on Route 666 near the intersection with Henrys Mill Road in Sheffield Township.

"The higher pavement friction helps motorists maintain better control in both dry and wet driving conditions by applying a skid-resistant treatment to the roadway," according to District Press Officer Jill Harry.

Project areas were identified through a safety analysis, including crash date, Harry said.

The work is expected to be complete in July.

RAM Construction Services of Livonia, Mich., is the contractor.

PennDOT is using $323,229 in federal safety funds for the project,

The work areas will have lane restrictions and traffic will be controlled by flaggers.

"Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers," Harry said.
