No matter the operation, every result at the Regional Challenge last week in Edinboro had to be 24.

The Warren County School District sent 20 students to the Regional Challenge 24 Tournament at Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit 5.

They faced off with students from 10 districts, a charter school, and several private schools.

The Warren County students in the fourth- and fifth-grade division were: fifth-graders Parker Kiser, Carissa Smith, Bentley Sherry, and Peyton Vincent, from Beaty-Warren Middle School; and Liam Hanson, Paul Mandeville, and Mitchell Owens, from Eisenhower Elementary School, and fourth-grader Ashton Carrington from Warren Area Elementary Center.

The district’s sixth-grade representatives were: Gabe Dougherty and and Shawn Lang from Beaty, Sophia Wallace from Eisenhower, and Gabby Hodak of Youngsville Middle High School.

At the seventh- and eighth-grade level, the district was represented by eighth-graders Quintin Norris and Aubrey Carrington of Beaty, Olivia Wallace and Lainey Font of Eisenhower, and Isaac Hammerbeck of Sheffield Area Middle High School; and seventh-graders Brynn Norris of Beaty, Carly Russell of Eisenhower, and Hannah Gentz of Youngsville.

Those students were selected based on their performances at the district level tournament in May.

After the opening rounds, 13 district students moved on to their respective semi-finals: Ashton Carrington, Mandeville, Sherry, Hanson, and Vincent; Dougherty and Sophia Wallace; and Aubrey Carrington, Quinn Norris, Brynn Norris, Russell, Olivia Wallace, and Font.

Those students earned bronze medals.

No district students made it to the final round and there is no state competition.

Starting at $3.50/week.
