‘Every single pint counts’ amid blood shortage

In the midst of a blood shortage, a group of donors did their part Friday at Warren County Courthouse.

According to Community Blood Bank Mobile Drive Coordinator Sydnee Groenendaal, the drive was a successful one. “This drive has gone very well… a little bit over projection,” Groenendaal said.

Still, there is a long way to go to get the blood supply up to a comfortable level.

“For the most part, we’re pretty much always at a one-day supply,” she said.

The organization offers promotions, entering donors to win various prizes.

But, for most donors, there is a more important motivation.

“It’s easy to think you’re just one person,” Groenendaal said. “But the person on the other end is just one person and they’re cared for and loved and need access to those products.”

“Every single pint counts,” she said.
