Deadline to apply for rent, property tax rebates extended

By Brian Ferry 1 min read

Older and disabled Pennsylvanians have extra time to apply for rent and property tax rebates.

The departments of Revenue and Aging announced that the June 30 deadline would be extended to Dec. 31.

Claimants are encouraged to file online at mypath.pa.gov.

This year could be a particularly beneficial year in which to file, according to a release from the departments.

"I encourage eligible seniors who have not yet applied to receive their rebate to please do so as soon as possible," Secretary of Aging Robert Torres said. "Gov. Wolf has proposed a one-time bonus rebate that, if approved by the General Assembly, would double the amount of their rebate for this filing period."

The annual income limits are $35,000 for homeowners and $15,000 for renters. Half of Social Security income is excluded.

The program is open to eligible Pennsylvanians ages 65 and older, widows and widowers ages 50 and older, and people with disabilities ages 18 and older.
