Warren man facing child rape charges

A Warren man is behind bars on charges including rape of a child.

Jayson Sanchez-Rodriguez, 41, of 27 S. Carver St., was arrested Friday evening.

City of Warren police said a woman came to the police station April 26 shortly after 7 a.m. “to report that her daughter was sexually assaulted,” according to the affidavit of probable cause.

She told police that her daughter was “not acting per usual,” police allege, when the victim told her mother that Sanchez-Rodriguez had forced her to perform sexual acts on multiple occasions.

The victim was subsequently interviewed by the Children’s Advocacy Center where she also disclosed that Sanchez-Rodriguez had forced her to watch sexually explicit videos.

The conduct allegedly occurred between November or December of last year and March.

Police subsequently interviewed Sanchez-Rodriguez, who, according to police, “denied the above allegations.”

Online court records indicate that he was charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child and corruption of minors, all felonies.

He was arraigned by District Judge Todd Woodin on Friday night and placed in the county jail after he was unable to post $250,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for next week.

Starting at $4.00/week.
