DPW Superintendent Joe Reinke told the Street Landscape Committee that there is “so much other stuff to catch up on” in the city’s parks.
“Now it’s a rush to get the downtown beds in shape by Memorial Day weekend which is usually our goal,” he said.
“We are now doing all the other projects we haven’t done because of Crescent Park,” DPW Director Mike Holtz said.
The dedication event, which Holtz estimated drew 120 people, was a topic of conversation.

“It was way beyond what I expected,” Committee chair Josie Gerarde said. “I have seen so many people over there.”
Citations were presented to the Street Landscape Committee from the state House and Senate and Gerarde proposed presenting both of those citations to the city.
“I think they need to be (displayed) in the city building,” she said. “I was overwhelmed by that that night.”
COMMITTEE TALKS MEMBERSHIP
The committee’s operating documents require a minimum of five members and a maximum of 15.
A resignation presented Tuesday pushes the committee to four, city resident, voting members. Non-voting members that are not city residents can join.
“I think we really seriously need to do something about this,” Gerarde said, detailing that the commitment is a monthly meeting as well as participating in the civic beautification award process, Arbor Day and providing advice on management of the city’s urban forest.
Anyone interested would need to send a letter of interest to the municipal building.
