Pa. Voting machines to be tested

Times Observer photo by Brian Ferry Dozens of locked voting machines line the front hallway at Warren County Courthouse. The machines will undergo required testing and ballots will be loaded into their memories next week.

The Pennsylvania primary election is a month away.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 17.

Warren County residents interested in voting must be registered by Monday, May 2.

Those looking to vote by mail or absentee ballot must apply no later than Tuesday, May 10.

The county’s electronic voting machines will be undergoing required testing soon.

“We will be doing logic and accuracy testing next week,” Warren County Director of Elections Krystle Ransom said Thursday.

Testing will take place in the hallway at the front of Warren County Courthouse and is open to the public. Every voting machine will be tested.

Most of the work will take place on Tuesday, but work could begin Monday afternoon and last into Wednesday.

In addition to testing the equipment, staff will load the ballots into the machines at that time.

After that, Ransom will start sending out mail-in and absentee ballots. “We’re hoping to stuff ballots starting on (Thursday) April 21.”

Anyone who is interested in working at the polls may contact the Elections and Voter Registration Office at (814) 728-3406. “We’re always looking for poll workers,” Ransom said.
