A group of Eisenhower Elementary School students recently had the chance to spend time with some local celebrities.

Warren County Dairy Princess Veronica Ludwick and Pennsylvania High School Rodeo Junior Princess Hialeah Stanton visited students in the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century After-School Program.

“All the kids got the chance to learn how to make a sustainable farm,” according to Program Manager Christine Haslett. “They also played dairy trivia where they learned many fun facts like ‘you should consume three dairy items per day.'”

“The kids learned so much about our local dairy industry from our Dairy Princess Veronica,” Haslett said. “Our Pennsylvania High School Rodeo Princess (PHSRA) Hialeah Stanton spoke on all the different events that occur at the rodeo.”

Students even got to practice some rodeo events. “They got to participate in some of the speed event patterns on foot such as barrel racing and pole bending,” Haslett said. “The kids really enjoyed PHSRA Princess Hialeah teaching them how to rope with a real lasso.”

“We truly appreciate the time these amazing local princesses took to talk and teach at the after-school program,” she said.
