St. Joseph Catholic School is celebrating Catholic Schools Week and Monday was Decades Day. Students and staff were encouraged to wear fashions from the past.
To kick off the school week, City of Warren Mayor Dave Wortman read the Catholic Schools Week proclamation during morning announcements and then read to the kindergarten and first grade.
“This week we recognize and celebrate the important role that Catholic elementary and secondary schools across the country play in providing an educational and spiritual foundation for the success of their students,” Wortman said.
“Catholic Schools week is a time set aside to showcase what sets Catholic education apart,” Superintended of Schools for the Erie Diocese Jim Gallagher said. “It is also a time to celebrate current students and welcome new families, to share the pride we have for our educators and continue to strengthen ties to our community so that we can fulfill our mission of providing a faith-filled and academically excellent education.”

This year’s theme is Faith, Excellence and Service.
The school will continue the celebration with Crocs and Crazy Socks Day, with a concert featuring local pastors, on Tuesday; Red, White, and Blue Day on Wednesday, with notes and lessons about veterans; Crazy Hair Day on Thursday; and Team Jersey Day on Friday, culminating with the school’s virtual talent show.
