Rainbow Challenge underway at Warren Public Library

Photo submitted to Times Observer Ellie Dorunda shows off the Good Job Medal she won for completing the Warren Public Library’s Read Your Way through the Rainbow Challenge.

It’s time for some colorful reading.

Warren Public Library’s Read Your Way through the Rainbow Challenge is under way.

“This reading incentive for children ages two through 12 encourages participants to read 26 different books based on colors,” Children’s Librarian Susan Slater said.

The books don’t have to be about colors.

“A book with a mostly green cover, or the word ‘green’ in the title, or written by an author by the name of Green, or a book about something green, can be used for the color green,” Slater said.

Ellie Dorunda recently completed the challenge and was awarded a Good Job medal on a rainbow ribbon. She was also entered into a drawing for a $30 Walmart gift card.

Children who finish the challenge and turn in their paperwork by April 18, will receive a medal and be entered in the drawing for one of five gift cards.

“Forms for this incentive may be picked up in the lobby outside of the Children’s Department or downloaded from the Children’s Program page at warrenlibrary.org.

“Families and preschool groups have been reading their way through the rainbow, and there is still plenty of time to participate,” Slater said.

She can be reached by calling 814 723-4650.
