Snyder is Warren General Hospital’s second BEE Award winner.
He was nominated by Registered Nurse Kimberly Campbell, who wrote, “Cotie has been part of the OR team for almost five years. Cotie is a surgical technician who scrubs cases, puts in supply orders, runs the front desk when needed, makes the surgeons preference cards and can run the CSP (Central Sterile Processing) department.”
“Cotie is great to work with because of his fun personality,” Campbell said. “He helps train our new techs and our new nurses. He is very easy to approach with questions.”
“He is a true team player whose main focus is patient care,” she said.
It’s not always the faces that patients recognize that help them have better care.
“Cotie is an essential part of the team that the patients don’t even know about,” Campbell said. “Working with Cotie in the OR is a blessing because he works with the entire team to ensure the patient has the best experience. Cotie is an amazing surgical technician.”
The hospital started its BEE Award in October to recognize employees who are not nurses in the way that its DAISY Award recognizes nurses.
“It is important our employees know their work is highly valued, and the BEE Program provides a way for us to do that,” CEO Rick Allen said.
“The BEE (Being Exceptional Everyday) award was developed to honor any hospital employee who is not a licensed nurse here at Warren General Hospital,” according to a release from Director of Marketing and Business Development George Lilja. “This Award was created by nursing leadership to complement the DAISY Award and honor patient care staff that continuously goes above and beyond for patients and their families every day. Recognizing non-nursing staff who demonstrate our core values here at Warren General Hospital is important to us.”
Employees may be nominated by patients, families, and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee at Warren General Hospital. Awards are presented throughout the year at celebrations attended by the honoree’s colleagues, patients, and visitors.
Each Honoree receives a certificate commending her or him for Being Exceptional Every day. Honorees also receive a BEE Award pin, a gift card at the hospital’s Window Box gift shop, four free lunches at the cafeteria, eight hour awards day off and a beautiful, very rare crystal called the Bumble Bee Jasper, found at Mount Papandayan in Indonesia.
“We are proud to recognize our exceptional healthcare workers,” Chief Nursing Officer Joe Akif said. “They are everyday heroes, and it’s important that they know their work is highly valued. The BEE Award provides a way for us to do that.”
“Just like in nature, bees are loyal, hardworking and cannot exist without the daisy, as neither can the daisy exist without the bee,” according to the release. “The BEE Award acknowledges the employee for going above and beyond for patients, their families, and our hospital every day.”
“The Warren General Hospital leadership team appreciates everything they do to make the hospital and our patients top priority,” according to the release. “On behalf of all of us at Warren General Hospital, we thank you, Cotie Snyder, for choosing Warren General Hospital as your employer and for the skill, care and compassion you give to our patients and coworkers every day. Warren General Hospital is honored to have an exceptional employee like you working here. Congratulations!”
