The strong odor permeating Warren’s East End since at least Friday is a result of an equipment failure at United Refining.

According to a United release, the situation does not represent a public health threat.

“United Refining Company experienced an equipment failure earlier today that caused a release of natural petroleum vapor,”according to the release. “The odors in the vicinity of the company are not dangerous to human health and we expect to have the situation resolved shortly.”
