Heavy snow possible as winter storm watch issued
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Warren County for Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, heavy snow is possible, with accumulation of six inches or more possible.
“Travel could be very difficult,” according to details in the watch. “The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.”
“Additional, minor, snowfall is expected Monday night and Tuesday with lake effect snow in the wake of the main system,” according to the watch.
PennDOT has issued warnings and is preparing to take other steps.
“Ahead of snowy conditions, cold temperatures and high winds expected across most of the state this weekend, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) are advising motorists to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm,” according to a Friday release. “Additionally, the agencies anticipate implementing various speed and vehicle restrictions throughout the storm.”
Although the NWS is not calling for snow on Saturday, it is predicting cold temperatures with wind chills as low as 10-below.
