An effort is in the works to honor the county’s farmers while also raising funds to provide milk to people in need.
Warren County Dairy Princess Veronica Ludwick is leading the charge. She’s seeking donations to sponsor a Farmer’s Dinner “in appreciation for all of our hardworking dairy farmers and their families.”
She wants to hold the event on March 27.
“This dinner has been held in past years by our Dairy Princesses and I would like to continue the tradition,” she said.
She cited the most recent data available that indicates Warren County has 54 dairy farms that generate a $93.1 million economic impact and create nearly 4,400 jobs.
“My family is one of those 54 farms,” she said. “I personally know how hard these families work to make their farms successful with the challenges facing our dairy farmers from increased feed, fuel and other operating costs and low milk prices.”
The dinner will, she explained, also include a baked goods auction “to raise funds for (a) Fill a Glass with Hope campaign to make sure families that use food banks also get real milk to drink.”
Anyone looking to donate to help sponsor the dinner can mail donations to Warren Co. Dairy Promotion, 4704 Old State Rd., Sugar Grove, Pa., 16350.
