Salvation Army readies for final campaign push

The Salvation Army is ready for a final push.
Major Keith Jache is hoping that this year’s Kettle Campaign will generate $75,000 to help local people in need.
As of Friday, “we’re at about $45,000,” Jache said.
The final push is the 24-hour Red Kettle Challenge.
Since 24-hour stores are hard to find locally in the COVID era, it won’t be a “24-hours-in-a-row” Kettle.
Jache said he will have the kettle out from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, at Walmart.
“The more money we can raise, the more people we can help,” he said. “Need is high. Costs are high.”
The Salvation Army’s soup kitchen is serving an average of 80 people per day, Jache said.
There is a larger than usual number of transient people coming through the Warren community and need a place to stay. The Salvation Army is helping them. “We’re constantly putting people up,” Jache said.
The Salvation Army accepts cash, check, credit card, and payment through a QR code that can be found on the kettle signs. Companies and individuals are welcome to drop off payment in advance of the 24-hour Kettle event.
