Project meeting on roundabout held in city

With construction of the downtown Warren roundabout scheduled to begin in 2022, there are steps to be taken to prepare.

A "large project meeting" was held Tuesday morning at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Market Street.

Some of the utility work that needs to be done in advance of the construct has been completed. On Tuesday, officials from Columbia Gas, Pennsylvania American Water, Allegheny Contracting, and the City of Warren Department of Public Works got together to discuss plans for the intersection.

Jeffrey Zavinski, assistant to the director of public works, said the officials gathered for their large project meeting.

"They're moving forward with relocation of services," Zavinski said.

He said that work expected to begin in early 2022.

According to PennDOT, work on the roundabout is expected to begin in spring 2022.

"As far as the project is concerned, it's in final design," Jill Harry, PennDOT press officer, explained in November.

"Agreements between the state and city have already been signed as well. So the project is headed toward construction here (at) the beginning of next year, April at the latest."
