A Warren man was taken into custody and charged in the wake of a Saturday incident where he allegedly shot at police during a welfare check.
City of Warren police officers responded to the area of 5 Hertzel St. on Saturday at 12:42 p.m. to check on the welfare of Ian A. Royo, 26, according to a statement from the Pennsylvania State Police.
"Upon arrival," Troopers state, Royo "fired a shot from a 9 mm pistol out of his bedroom window over the officer's heads."
Police say that Royo walked out of the residence and was taken into custody without further incident about 15 minutes later. He was taken to the Pennsylvania State Police barracks and was interviewed "with full cooperation."
Online court records show that he faces three counts of assault of a law enforcement officer, three counts of aggravated assault and four counts of discharge of a firearm into occupied structure -- all felonies -- as well as five counts of misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person.
Troopers stressed that there was "no threat to the public and no one was injured during the course of this incident."
Troopers were assisted by City of Warren Police and the Warren County Sheriff's Office.
