There were 535 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Warren County in September.

That is the third highest monthly total so far, trailing only December 2020 (1,171) and January 2021 (547).

As of the Oct. 1 report (reflecting Sept. 30 data) from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, there had been 3,370 cases in the county. Of those, 2,687 are confirmed and 737 probable.

There were also nine new deaths added to the pandemic toll in September, bringing that total to 116.

So far in October, there have been 54 new cases, including nine in Monday's report.

There have been 8,736.7 cases per 100,000 residents in the county, according to the department. That is second lowest in the state behind Susquehanna County at 8,086.2.

A total of 15,212 county residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the department. Another 2,414 are partially vaccinated and 194 have received an additional (booster) shot since Aug. 13.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Warren County, like the rest of the state, remains in the "high" category in community transmission. Of 613 tests performed in the county during the week ending Saturday, Oct. 2, the positivity rate was 18.92 percent.

At Warren County School District, there were nine positive cases and 88 students who had been denied entry due to close contacts on Friday, according to Superintendent Amy Stewart.
