Man jailed on assault, harassment charges
A York County man is in Warren County Jail after allegedly attacking his brother with a knife.
Scott L. Myers, 46, of Brogue, is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Scott Myers, his wife Rachel, and his brother John, were staying at the Rest Stop Inn in Mead Township. Police said there was an altercation and Scott Myers allegedly pushed Rachel Myers.
“Rachel started packing the car and was attempting to leave when Scott allegedly took a butcher knife and attempted to slice the tires on the vehicle she was packing,” according to the affidavit. “Rachel stopped him from completing that action during which time Scott is alleged to have chased John up the stairs to the motel room attempting to lunge at him with a butcher knife.”
“John was able to run away from Scott and lock himself in the bathroom,” according to the affidavit. “John took the knife and put it in the sink…”
“Several minutes later, Rachel and John began walking away from the scene down the road and Scott chased them from behind and began to punch John multiple times,” according to the affidavit. “John and Rachel were able to get away from Scott and contact Pennsylvania State Police.”
“According to Scott, the argument began when he found his brother John and his wife Rachel ‘messing around,'” according to police. “This made Scott very mad and he began yelling and throwing things. Scott alleged that during this time Rachel punched him in the head.”
“Scott alleges that he never hit either party and never chased John with a knife,” police said.
Police said a butcher knife was found in the sink.
Scott Myers was arraigned Wednesday morning before District Judge Daniel Miller and taken to Warren County Jail after failing to post $20,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12.
