Library will host second Story Walk of year

More walk, more story, more caps.

The Warren Public Library is hosting its second Story Walk of the year.

Naturally, the follow-up to the summer walk, which featured Caps for Sale by Esphyr Slobodkina, will feature More Caps for Sale, by Slobodkina and Ann Marie Mulhearn Sayer.

“Families and preschools can complete this story walk at their own pace starting Monday, Oct. 4, through Sunday, Oct. 10,” Children’s Librarian Susan Slater said. “Participants may pick up a More Caps for Sale Story Walk packet in the lobby outside of the Children’s Room or download one from our website – www.warrenlibrary.org – under Events and then Children’s Programs.”

There will also be packets available outside the parking lot entrance to the library.

“Thirteen different businesses along Liberty Street and Second Avenue will post pages from More Caps for Sale in their windows so you can read the story in progress as you stroll through our downtown area,” Slater said. “The packets name the businesses and tell you where to start.”

Participants who turn in the submission forms from their packets by Oct. 15 will be entered into a drawing.

“Twelve names will be randomly drawn and the winners notified on Oct. 18,” Slater said. “Each of the winners will receive a gift bag. Gift bags will include an array of prizes including a t-shirt, a copy of one of the Caps for Sale stories, a plush monkey and banana, a monkey bobble head, a poster, a colorful beret and some other tidbits.”

“A special thank you to Ann Marie Mulhearn Sayer and the Slobodkina Foundation for providing the t-shirts, poster and book prizes,” Slater said.

Anyone with questions may contact Slater at (814) 723-4650 ext. 126.
