40 new COVID cases recorded in county

Warren County is on pace to see its third-highest incidence of new cases of COVID-19 this month.

Another county death was attributed to the virus on Tuesday — dating to Sept. 6 — bringing that total to 111.

There have only been three days this year in which there were more new reported cases in the county than Tuesday’s 40.

All three of those days were in the first 10.

The 40 on Tuesday is the highest single-day total in the county since 44 were reported on Jan. 9. There were 50 cases reported on Jan. 5 and 57 on Jan. 1.

COVID…

There were 38 new cases reported on Jan. 30 and May 5.

Tuesday’s new cases compare ominously to months of data.

There were only 39 new cases in the county in June and July combined.

The highest single-day total in August was 27. Tuesday’s new cases would represent a little less than one-quarter of all the cases in August.

Through two weeks of September, there have been at least 30 new cases reported three times.

There were almost 1,200 cases in December and about 550 in January. In the seven months after that, there were just over 800 new cases — April seeing the most with 223. There have been almost 200 so far this month.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that every county in the state had a high level of community transmission as of Tuesday.

The vaccination statistics for the county, which are not updated immediately, did not change from Monday to Tuesday. There have been just over 17,000 county residents who had received at least one dose of vaccine — with 14,766 of those fully vaccinated.

According to statistics released Tuesday by the Department of Health, 97 percent of COVID deaths, 95 percent of hospitalizations and 94 percent of cases are among unvaccinated Pennsylvanians.

Vaccines continue to be available at several locations in the county according to vaccines.gov.
