Pittsfield man facing indecent assault charge

A Pittsfield man is charged with indecent assault after allegedly groping a family member while the family was gathered for a funeral.

Troy Dew, 42, of York Hill Road, is charged with indecent assault — without consent, and harassment.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the alleged victim was riding with Dew from a funeral service to the funeral luncheon.

Dew told the woman he had to stop at his home and asked if she would help him take care of a stray cat he had taken in, according to the affidavit.

The woman told police she tried to catch the cat, could not, and started to return to the vehicle, according to the affidavit.

Dew allegedly came up behind her, grabbed her breasts, then attempted to remove her skirt, according to the affidavit. The woman was able to leave the building.

Police interviewed Dew hours after the alleged incident.

According to police, Dew was “very inconsistent” regarding the amount of time they were at his home and what they talked about.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Starting at $4.00/week.
