Photo submitted to Times Observer Zane Alexander, a 2021 Eisenhower High School graduate, receives the AMVETS Department of Pennsylvania Bernard Gorman Scholarship from Past National Commander Gary Fry.

An Eisenhower High School graduate has won a statewide AMVETS scholarship.

Zane Alexander, Eisenhower High School class of 2021, has been awarded the Bernard Gorman Scholarship by the AMVETS Department of Pennsylvania.

The scholarship was awarded at the department’s 2021 AMVETS Convention in Reading.

Graduating seniors who are the children or grandchildren of AMVETS members or deceased veterans who were members are eligible to apply.

The selection is made by a third party based on academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and a written essay.

Alexander will attend Penn State – University Park – in the fall, majoring in biochemical engineering.

He is the son of Matt and Wendy Alexander.

The scholarship and an American Flag were presented to him by AMVETS Past National Commander Gary Fry on behalf of the AMVETS Department of Pennsylvania State Service Foundation.
