Dinner to aid Vets Council Emergency Fund
When a Warren County veteran has a problem, he or she can look to the Warren County Veterans Council.
The council’s Emergency Fund is available to help those who are in tight spots.
“There are a lot of reasons that can come into play for emergency purposes,” Veterans Affairs Director Delores Stec said. “Not every case is the same.”
“An application has to be filled out and can be obtained through the Veterans Affairs Office” at Warren County Courthouse, Stec said. “Once we have it back, it is processed through the proper channels.”
The fund is specific to Warren County veterans — 100 percent of the money stays in the county — and to emergencies.
The second annual Warren County Veterans Council Emergency Fund Benefit spaghetti dinner will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, at Cabin in the Pines, 37030 Route 6, Spring Creek.
The inaugural event was held in 2019. There was no 2020 edition due to COVID-19.
The $10 dinners include spaghetti, salad, and water. There will be a cash bar. Those interested may get their meals to-go.
All proceeds will go to the emergency fund.
Tickets are available at the sponsor businesses: Cabin in the Pines (814) 489-7763 and Rusted Nutz Garage (814) 563-2823, or by calling Barb Bailey at (814) 462-6360, Gene Bailey at (814) 462-8695, or Stec at (814) 728-3478.
