Woman faces contraband charge

A Youngsville woman is behind bars and faces charges that she allegedly brought methamphetamine into the county jail.

Mariah D. Fetter, 32, 101 E. Main St., faces a single felony count of contraband filed by City of Warren police on Monday.

City of Warren police were dispatched to the jail on June 30 at 5:45 a.m. for a report of an inmate bringing methamphetamine into the facility.

Jail staff said Pennsylvania State Police discovered a warrant out of Westmoreland County for Fetter’s arrest during the course of a traffic stop. She was then brought into the county jail.

During the booking process, corrections staff said Fetter used the restroom. When she left the restroom, staff said “a small chain necklace with a metal capsule attached to it was found in the toilet” that was discovered to allegedly contain “white crystal-like shards, consistent with that of methamphetamine.”

Police alleged in the criminal complaint that the methamphetamine found in the restroom was concealed “inside her person” into the facility.

Jail staff told police that a cleaning crew had cleaned the booking areas hours before “and the item found was not present.” Additionally, a sergeant performed a walk through less than an hour before Fetter was brought in “and the item was not present in the toilet then either.

Police interviewed Fetter who disclosed methamphetamine use. They then listened to a recorded jail phone call that Fetter made to a male with her at the traffic stop. She allegedly told the male that there is a “little piece” in the passenger door of the vehicle. The male on the call says he would get rid of it and Fetter allegedly tells him to “smoke it, (expletive) it.”

Fetter was arraigned by District Judge Raymond Zydonik and remains in the jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, online court records show.

Starting at $3.50/week.
