Saddles and Spurs prep for roundup, return of fair

With the return of the Warren County Fair, the Sanford Saddles and Spurs 4-H Club have some work to do.

That effort started last month with a local roundup held at the fairgrounds.

“This show is an opportunity for the club members to compete and understand the rules and expectations (that) will be necessary for the upcoming Warren County Roundup,” Amanda Ongley told the Times Observer.

The Warren County 4-H Roundup is set for July 30 and 31.

“Members are required to compete in the grooming and showmanship class at the club level, which is a requirement for completing the 4-H year,” Ongley said.

“This is a good opportunity for leaders and other club members to help give tips so all club members who chose to show in the county show qualifier (can) be showing at their best and have their best opportunity to advance on to the district and state level.”

The group also gathered at the fairgrounds last week to continue planning — not only for the roundup but also for the fair itself.

“After the meeting, club members assisted with a countywide work bee at the fairgrounds, which was organized by the fair board to help get the Warren County Fairgrounds ready for the Warren County Fair,” Ongley siad. “Another work bee is scheduled for Tuesday July 27 at the Warren County Fair Grounds to work on more improvements.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
