City switching approach to getting feedback

City officials are taking a new approach to obtain public feedback on possible future projects.

A public hearing has been set for next Thursday at Breeze Point Landing at 5 p.m. to gather feedback on the city’s federal Community Development Block Grant funding.

“I chose Breeze Point because I think the public would rather come there than city hall,” Vince DeJoy, the city’s director of zoning, codes and economic development, explained.

“I chose July 22 because on my calendar here (it) says National Hot Dog Day.”

Maybe some free hot dogs will increase public feedback?

“I am going to fire up a grill and cook some hotdogs at the Gazebo for those that are willing to attend,” DeJoy said.

The hearing itself will include a brief explanation of the CDBG process and then — hopefully — receive some public feedback.

“The City of Warren is allocated $322,229 to do projects to benefit low to moderate income people,” he said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
