A Sugar Grove woman is charged with endangering the welfare of children after allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol with two children in the vehicle.
Katherine J. Little, 38, of Sugar Grove, faces charges including endangering the welfare of children (a felony of the first degree), endangering the welfare of children (felony 3), DUI, and failure to carry registration.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, at about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, police responded to a report of an intoxicated woman who had driven to a business on Route 6 in Brokenstraw Township.
"During my interaction with Little, I observed her speech to be thick and slurred, her eyes were bloodshot and glassy, she appeared to be unsure of her footing as she leaned against her vehicle to maintain her balance," according to police. "I could smell a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath."
Police administered a field sobriety test and placed Little under arrest.
Breath testing equipment was placed out of service due to "the percentage variation," according to police. "Little was then transported to Warren General Hospital where she was asked to submit to a blood test."
Little refused the test, according to the affidavit.
Police said Little admitted to driving the children - one under the age of six and the other under the age of 18 - to the location.
Little was arraigned before District Judge Todd Woodin and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
