Warren Gives generates $731,792

Warren keeps on giving.

The 2021 Warren Gives — A Warren County Day of Giving — generated $731,792.71 for 100 participating organizations.

Of that amount, donors contributed $671,792.71, and matching funds amounted to $60,000.

The matching funds are spread around the participating organizations in the same ratio of the donations from the public. An entity that received 1 percent of the donations received 1 percent ($600) of the matching dollars.

Matching funds were provided by the Community Foundation of Warren County, DeFrees Family Memorial Fund, Betts Foundation, Crossett, Lasher Charitable Fund, Northwest Charitable Foundation, McComas Charitable Fund, Sara Sokolski Memorial Fund, Superior Tire and Rubber, and United Refining Company.

For some, 2021 was a critical year and the giving this year reflects an increase of 12 percent over last year’s $648,232.

“We are grateful for the outpouring of support for non-profit organizations serving Warren County,” Community Foundation Executive Director John Lasher said.

“The donors used Warren Gives to support our local organizations, many of which have not recovered from last year’s shutdowns. The generosity of people who think of Warren County as home is overwhelming!”

“The event recorded 5,832 donations from 1821 donors,” Lasher said. “The average donation was $115.19, though donations ranged from $10 to $7,000. On average, each donor contributed to three organizations. All participating organizations received donations, with many surpassing their last year’s totals.”

The top recipients of Warren Gives 2021 were: Struthers Library Theatre, Paws Along the River Humane Society, Miracle Mountain Ranch, Boy Scouts – Chief Cornplanter Council and Camp Olmsted, Hospice of Warren County, Warren Public Library, Ruth M. Smith Center, Warren County YMCA, Youngsville Public Library, and Women’s Care Center.

The Foundation offers incentives intended to introduce some friendly competition and encourage organizations to grow their efforts through Warren Gives.

The organizations with the largest percentage increase in number of donors compared to 2020 were: 1. Grand Valley VFD; 2 The Toy Shoppe; and 3 Bear Lake VFD.

Most improved by percentage of dollars brought in were:

1. Grand Valley VFD; 2. Tidioute Health and Dental; and 3. Foundation for Free Enterprise.

The organization receiving donations from the most states was Miracle Mountain Rance – 31 states.

The mystery prize goes to the Rouse Estate for receiving the ninth donation in this the ninth year of the event.
