Update: Graduation ceremonies moved to 5 p.m.

Warren County School District has moved the start of commencement ceremonies at all four of its high schools to 5 p.m. tonight.

The events were originally scheduled for 6 p.m.

The announcement was posted to the district website – www.wcsdpa.org – at about 1:38 p.m.

A 1:49 p.m. call blast indicated that graduates should arrive at their graduation locations by 4:30 p.m. – Youngsville High School graduates are asked to arrive by 4:20 p.m. – and that the order of events at each ceremony will be altered, moving the awarding of diplomas to the beginning and speeches to the end.

According to Superintendent Amy Stewart, moving the ceremonies up an hour could help prevent having to cancel them due to weather.

District officials are keeping an eye on forecasts that indicate a line of storms could hit the county shortly before 7 p.m.
