District to move to a new summer food service program schedule

School is out for summer and it’s time to start helping kids get the nutrition they need outside of the classroom.

“The Warren County School District will be moving to a new Summer Food Service Program schedule beginning Monday, June 14, 2021,” according to Coordinator of Grant and Foundation Development Matt Jones.

Meals are available to school-age children ages 19 and under.

Sit-down meals will be available at Beaty-Warren Middle School on Mondays through Fridays. Breakfasts will be served from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Bag lunches will be available daily from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at Lacy Playground in Warren.

“Please be patient as site staff work to adjust meal orders to actual demand,” Jones said.

There are other locations where multiple meals will be delivered.

“The district has established nine mobile delivery sites that will start on different days of the week of June 14,” Jones said. “Mobile sites will deliver one day per week, offering a five-day bundle of both breakfasts and lunches.”

On Tuesdays, meal bundles will be available: from 11 to 11:15 a.m. at the Grand Valley Post Office; from 11:30 to 11:45 a.m. at Garland Trailer Park; and from 12:10 to 12:30 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Trailer Park.

Meals will be available on Wednesdays from 11 to 11:15 a.m. at Bear Lake Volunteer Fire Department; 11:30 to 11:45 a.m. at Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department; and from noon to 12:30 p.m. at Youngsville Middle High School.

Thursday meals will be available from 11 to 11:15 a.m. at Larimer Park; from 11:30 to 11:45 a.m. at Allegheny Village; and from 12:10 to 12:30 p.m. at Sheffield Park.

“The district may adjust these delivery times if necessary to accommodate traffic and/or demand,” Jones said.

“The district encourages families to visit the district website and Facebook page on days with poor weather as any site closure will be announced there,” Jones said. “he administration will monitor the Summer Food Service Program in case additional changes are necessary.”

Any changes will be publicized on the district’s website – www.wcsdpa.org – and Facebook page, as well as through local media.

Those will questions about the program may call (814) 723-6900.
