County Pride Day is proclaimed
Proclamation provided to the Times Observer Gov. Tom Wolf has declared via proclamation Saturday to be “Warren County Pride Day” in the Commonwealth. Pride Day will be celebrated with an event that will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Betts Park.
Lt. Gov. John Fetterman might be the keynote for Warren County Pride Day festivities on Saturday.
But Gov. Tom Wolf evidently didn’t want to be left out. He has issued a proclamation deeming Saturday “Warren County Pride Day” across the Commonwealth
The proclamation calls the event a “time to unite and denounce discrimination and violence toward LGBTQ individuals, to promote self-affirmation, dignity, and equality, and to mobilize communities….
“THEREFORE, in recognition of the unwavering dedication of advocates and heroes across this commonwealth, I, Tom Wolf, Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, do hereby proclaim June 26, 2021 as WARREN COUNTY PRIDE DAY. I encourage all Pennsylvanians to celebrate this important observance and to continue to work toward true liberty and justice for all.”
Saturday’s Pride Day event will be held at Betts Park from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“We couldn’t be more grateful for the support from the Governor’s office,” Jill Sumner, one of the lead organizers of the Pride event, said. “To be recognized in this way is a great honor.”
“I am grateful for the support of the Governor’s office,” Douglas Hearn added. “They responded quickly once the connection was arranged. Governor Wolf continues to speak for the LGBTQIA community.”
The free event will include costume contests, giveaways, music, activities, resource tables and vendors.
It’s aimed to be inclusive and open to all-ages “celebrating diversity and promoting equality, acceptance, tolerance, and love throughout beautiful Warren County, Pennsylvania.”
