Students learn about insects while bugging around

All sorts of creepy-crawlies were seen recently at Tidioute Community Charter School.

But it’s not time to call an exterminator.

The bugs were made by students.

The second grade class is learning about insects.

Penn State Extension Office Entomologist Jennifer Grooms kicked off the unit for the students and introduced them to a whole world of insects.

In addition to learning about different insects, they learned the characteristic parts of insects.

They even made their own.

The unit continues with students learning about the importance of pollinators and the local flowering plants that attract them.
