Dashboard helps link residents to vaccine
Anyone looking for a particular vaccine can now track down the nearest provider.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has updated its COVID-19 Vaccine Dashboard.
Anyone interested in finding a vaccine can visit vaccine.gov, enter a zip code, which brand of vaccine they are interested in, and how far they are willing to go.
The site then shows the closest locations and which have the requested vaccine and which don’t.
For example a search for all vaccines within 25 miles of 16365 — Warren –brings up 20 providers.
There are three locations in Warren, one in North Warren, one in Sugar Grove, six (with one out of stock) in Jamestown, N.Y., one (out of stock) in Tidioute, three in Lakewood, N.Y., one in Falconer, N.Y., two in Kane, and two in Corry.
From the Tidioute zip code, the closest provider is out of stock and the next seven are in Titusville.
A search of the Corry 16407 zip code – which includes some Warren County residents – shows the top four results in Corry, then Spartansburg, Union City, and Canadohta Lake, before the Sugar Grove result. That search includes more than 20 locations in the Erie area but none in Warren.
A search for just the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine from Warren yields many more out-of-stock results. But, there are still two within five miles.
Similarly, there are only a few locations with Pfizer vaccine in stock within 25 miles of Warren, but the dashboard shows two in the city.
The number of new cases in Warren County has returned to a more normal level.
On Wednesday, the department announced 38 new cases – the highest single-day total since January.
There were four new cases reported Friday and three on Thursday. The average for April was a little over 7 cases per day. With the exception of Wednesday’s report, there had not been a day of more than 10 new cases since April 16.
The total for the county is 2,560 cases – 1,971 confirmed and 589 probables.
