We’re not under any allusion that these photos match but that doesn’t take away from the fascinating change seen on the south side of the Allegheny River in the last 120 years. According to Warren General Hospital, the Warren Emergency Hospital opened in 1900, slowly expanding with an annex for patients with infectious diseases as well as a nursing school that functioned into the 1940s. The current Warren General Hospital — named such in 1917 — was constructed on the site of the emergency hospital in 1955.
