A Sugar Grove man is in jail after he fought naked with police during a domestic incident Wednesday night.

Travis L. Williams, 42, 101 Race St., faces charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest filed by Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police.

Two troopers were dispatched to Williams’ residence for a report of an “active domestic violence incident” shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to the affidavit of probable cause. Troopers reported that when they arrived Williams “exited his residence with no clothes on and his genitals exposed.”

The report indicates that Williams’ girlfriend “was outside and went back into the residence to retrieve pants for Williams.” Troopers attempted to follow her in “for her safety” but “Williams blocked our paths.”

Troopers told Williams to move and calm down and report that “Williams was extremely intoxicated and irate. He began shoving, striking and grabbed” a trooper ” in the heck, head and chest area in a violent struggle.”

The other trooper announced he “intended to activate my TASER and Williams continued to assault” the trooper. The TASER was then deployed “to the exposed lower back area of” the defendant.

Troopers were then able to handcuff Williams, the affidavit states.

“As we attempted to take Williams into custody he dropped to the floor near the doorway and began to struggle with us again,” the affidavit states. “After repeated commands Williams did not want to move.”

Troopers say he eventually complied and was placed into the back of a patrol vehicle when he “began to violently kick the door and did not want to put his leg into the vehicle, and began spitting all over the patrol vehicle.”

Online court records indicate that Williams was arraigned by District Justice Laura Bauer at 11:15 Wednesday night and was taken to the Warren County Jail after he was unable to post $50,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing has been set for March 10 at 2 p.m.
