A Warren woman charged earlier this week with lacing her child's breast milk with suboxone now faces a felony charge of contraband for sneaking the substance into the county jail.
City of Warren police charged Bridget G. Putman, 29, 301 Par. Ave., Apt. A, for the second time in a week with a single count of felony contraband -- controlled substance.
Police report in the affidavit of probable cause that they were dispatched to the Warren County Jail on Feb. 2 shortly after 1:30 p.m.
"It was reported that an employee," the affidavit states, "believed that (Putman) was under the influence during a meeting."
Police state that Putman was brought into the office "where she made a strange adjustment in her pelvic region." Putman was then given a body scan "and found to have an object concealed within her person."
Putman then removed the object "which concealed chunks of a suboxone pill" and "admitted to sneaking 10 suboxone pills into the prison when she was incarcerated because she knew she was going to jail that day."
Online court records indicate she is being held on $10,000 bond on this docket.
Putman was charged with endangering the welfare of children and possession with intent to deliver on Monday afternoon. She was incarcerated at the county jail on a probation violation stemming from a 2017 case which resulted in convictions for theft by deception and retail theft.
Police were "advised" in that case that Putman used "subutex or suboxone while pregnant with a now two month old female."
In the criminal complaint charging her, police allege that she "did crush up suboxone and mix the crushed up suboxone with breast milk and formula which was then provided" to the child or "frozen for future use."
Putman and a co-defendant were recorded discussing the drugs given to the child on a recorded jail phone line.
Preliminary hearings in both cases are set for Feb. 17 at 9 a.m.
