State announces discovery of COVID-19 variant in Dauphin Co.
The state Department of Health has announced the discovery of the COVID-19 variant in Pennsylvania.
This is the variant initially discovered in England last month.
The virus – SARA-CoV-2 B.1.1.7 – was confirmed in Pennsylvania in a case out of Dauphin County.
State officials said the person tested positive “after known international exposure” and that state officials opened a case investigation and contact tracing “to identify, inform and monitor anyone who was in close contact with this individual.”
