Rapp to continue as Health Committee chair

State Representative Kathy Rapp will continue to chair the House of Representatives Health Committee in the 2021-22 session of the General Assembly.

Rapp was unopposed for a ninth term in the General Assembly last fall. This marks her third term as chair of the Health Committee.

According to information from the House of Representatives, Rapp also sits on the Environmental Resources & Energy Committee.

“The House Health Committee deals with issues such as abortion, disease management, health savings accounts, hospital-acquired infections, Medical Assistance, patient safety, pharmaceutical issues, telemedicine, welfare reform and much more,” Rapp said on Facebook.

House Speaker Bryan Cutler made the announcement last week

“Each of these respected and successful lawmakers brings years of experience, expertise and drive to their respective positions,” Cutler said. “Committees are the backbone of our legislative process. This is where the voice of the people is shaped into policy ideas that eventually become law. I look forward to seeing what each of these chairs can accomplish with their committees over the next two years.”

There are 23 standing committees in the House ranging from Aging and Older Adult Services to Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness.

The 65th District includes all of Warren County as well as parts of Forest and Crawford county.
